Adult Bible Studies

Faith Seeking Understanding

Bible Studies and small groups are excellent ways to explore God’s Word and your faith. It is also an outstanding opportunity to create a support group for asking the hard questions of life. Bible study isn’t so much about knowledge (although you certainly receive it) but about wisdom.

My child, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments; for length of days and years of life and abundant welfare they will give you. Proverbs 3.1-2

"Christian Believer" is a topical study combining Scripture and Christian belief. There is a study manual and Readings book that includes ideas on doctrine, early Christian documents that have contributed to central teachings of Christian faith, and writings from founders of Protestant denominations as well as current thinkers on classical doctrines. Visit Cokesbury for more information.

Jesus In The Gospels

This is a 30-week course beginning September 6th.
Meets Thursday evenings at 7PM in the Library, Room B4.

"Jesus In The Gospels" focuses on the portraits of Jesus found in the four Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. The 'In' used in the title signals that this study takes an approach different from the familiar "life and teaching of Jesus" approach of reading stories and accounts of what Jesus said and did in order to draw conclusions about their meaning and about who Jesus was. This study looks at the way each Gospel writer presents events and teachings and at the picture of Jesus that emerges in each of the Gospels.
