Covering a wide spectrum of challenging musical repertoire, their selections include contemporary choral music settings, traditional hymn favorites, gospel music and choral pieces with an ethnic flavor. This ensemble also leads the congregation in worship for special services during the church year and they present inspirational cantatas during the Palm Sunday/Easter and Christmas seasons accompanied by instrumentalists and actors/narrators. CHILDREN & YOUTH ENSEMBLES
Cantate ChoirThe Cantate Choir is a music ensemble for students in grades 2 – 5. Occasionally they provide lively selections and lead the congregation in worship music at the 8:30 and 11:00am traditional services. In addition to singing fun-filled, energetic selections specially geared for this age group, they learn beginning music theory while playing instruments such as choir chimes, tone bells, boomwhackers, woodblocks, rhythm sticks and more. This ensemble also does some acting as well as singing when they combine with the Cherub Choir to present a yearly musical at the 5:00pm service on Christmas Eve.
Rehearsals are on Sunday afternoons from 12:00noon – 12:45pm.
Cherub ChoirThe Cherub Choir is a choral ensemble for younger children, age 4 – 1st grade. Combining creative movement with music, this ensemble delights the congregation when they occasionally sing children’s favorites for the 11:00am services. They also combine with the Cantate Choir to present a yearly Christmas Eve musical. Rehearsals are during the 11:00am traditional service immediately following Children’s Church. With many years of experience as a kindergarten teacher, Shirley Johnson directs the Cherub Choir with a great combination of fun and musical learning.
