Welcome to FUMC The Colony!
Our church is a Bible-based mainstream church that seeks to be a transforming agent in this world by our witness, our worship,
our spiritual formation, and our community outreach.
Which service should I attend?
Our 8:30am Traditional Service is our most formal service. It usually has a smaller number of attendees and is a more intimate setting.
Our 11:00am Traditional Service usually has the largest attendance. Regardless of which service you attend,
the sermons are usually the same. Our 9:45 am service,
IGNITE, features more contemporary music in a very relaxed
atmosphere.
Where do I go when I get there?
See the diagram above for parking and the main entrance. It's perfectly OK to drop your family off near the main entrance before finding a parking
spot. There is usually someone welcoming members and guests so if you have any questions, they are a great place to start. As you walk up the main
entrance, the doors to the narthex (that's the lobby into the sanctuary) is on the left. That's where you should see your next friendly face greeting
everyone that comes through the doors. Our goal is to make everyone, members and guests, feel welcomed as they come in. You'll also find a lot
of visiting going on before the services. The sanctuary is straight ahead. If you need to make a quick pit stop to freshen up, the rest rooms are
immediately to the left as you enter the front doors. As you enter the sanctuary, the ushers will make sure you get a Weekly Bulletin with the
outline of the service in it and some important announcements inside. You're welcome to take any seat you like.
What to Wear?
Our IGNITE Service is fairly casual with jeans and polo shirts in view.
Our Traditional Services are a little more formal with most people wearing "Business Casual" like khakis and buttoned shirts.
But we're not picky ... in the summer, you're just as likely to see jeans and sundresses.
What about Children?
All children are invited to attend Christian Living classes (Sunday School) based on their grade in school. There is a special
Children's Time at the 8:30am and 11:00am services for all children. At the 11:00 service, children are invited to attend their own
"Children's Church" for kids younger than 2nd grade immediately following Children's Time (roughly 11:15am).
Do we have a nursery?
You bet. All children 2 and under are welcome to stay in our nursery. Our professional nursery staff are trained and Red Cross CPR-certified. There
are always at least 2 adults in the nursery at all times.
