More About Pastor Taylor

Taylor is the pastor of First UMC The Colony, a husband, father of three, dog owner, and firm believer that good theology and good food are both best shared around a table.

He graduated from McMurry University in 2014 and earned his Master of Divinity from Duke Divinity School in 2017—which means he has spent an unreasonable amount of his life reading books with very long sentences about God. He loves theology, philosophy, asking questions that don’t always have tidy answers, and helping people discover a faith that is thoughtful, honest, and actually connected to real life.

But Taylor also believes faith shouldn’t live entirely between our ears. A former CrossFit coach and lifelong lover of moving heavy things for no particularly practical reason, he is especially interested in the connection between body, mind, and spirit—and what it means to follow Jesus with our whole selves.

When he isn’t preaching, reading, or dramatically overthinking something, you can usually find him with his family, eating something delicious, working out, or attempting to convince his three children that bedtime is, in fact, a real thing.
